Last Tuesday – August a Virtual YPOS Happy Hour
August 25 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pmFree
As sure as the sun is to rise… every month for the last 9 years, the YPOSeattle Happy Hour (“Last Tuesday”) would bring hundreds of young professionals to a bar or restaurant in Seattle around a common interest. Community.
Covid-19 has changed the way the world operates. YPGroup Communities, not being exempt from change, is in a position to pivot, innovate and continue doing what we love: Bring people together. ♥
For the past 9 years our Last Tuesday Happy Hours events have been a Seattle staple; an in-person event we enjoyed hosting each month that featured 150+ of the most important people in the community: YOU!
Well, the world is different now. Your health and safety is our priority so virtual is our new reality. So we changed things around to accommodate for the new landscape while maintaining our signature YPOSeattle happy hour style (see below).
Our new, virtual, Happy Hour will 3 have different topic oriented rooms (you choose your topic at registration) + a cocktail making class to kick things off.
So reserve your spot, purchase a box (if you so choose) and we’ll see you on August 25th at 5:30pm!
#staythefhome #quaranstream #lasttuesday
Here are the details/schedule:
5:30-6 PM – Cocktail Making Class: You have the opportunity to create an Absolut Bloody Mary. This will include an instructor, cocktail ingredients, and of course other like-minded professionals! For each cocktail boxes sold, we will give a portion of the proceeds to benefit the: Bartenders Emergency Assistance Program
Your box will include: Absolut, bloody mary ingredients, Absolut swag (get pumped it’s some pretty cool stuff) and digital discounts from our partners (sent directly to your inbox)
6 PM-7 PM Per your choosing, you will be placed into 1 of 3 rooms:
Room #1 Career Dev / Jobs Connector:
Think of the Job Connector room like a virtual jobs fair, where you get to have a casual conversation with a career coach, a hiring manager or recruiter from a company looking to fill roles and your peers while picking up tips and tricks to stand out when applying for a position. This month’s expert/facilitator is Stephanie Smith of Hire Minded.
Room #2 Current Events: this month’s topic is: the US Census & it’s importance
Cohosted by United Way of King County Emerging Leaders 365 and 1000 Cuts this month’s current events room will focus on the importance of the census and why ensuring proper representation is critical. The deadline to fill out the census was recently shortened by one month from the end of October to the end of September. And those most affected by this will be People of Color. The census is more than a headcount, it determines the number of hospital beds allocated, distributes how many representatives are in the House of Representatives for a state, redistricts the House lines, determines funding for education, the availability of food stamps, funding nonprofits receive and so much more. Each month, the Current Events room will leverage a digital resource as a tool to help carry the conversation. This month’s resource is a short podcast titled “The 2020 Census Could be the Least Accurate Ever And It’s Ending a Month Early.” If you would like to learn even more you can also check out the coverage by Hansi Lo Wang who is the go-to expert everywhere you look for this year’s census.
Room #3 Health and Wellness:
Admit it you have had a hard time working out, eating right, and keeping healthy in quarantine. Lucky for you, we are bringing in the experts from Flow Fitness to help with some of your quarantine health and wellness related problems. Get ready to find a fitness buddy and/or commiserate over your eating habits (who is craving Cool Ranch Doritos right now?).
7 PM – whenever Networking: We will all reconvene in the “main” room for some more digitally awesome networking!
About the Virtual Last Tuesday:
If you’ve been to one of our happy hours, you’d know that we don’t enjoy forcing structure. Organic networking is sort of our thing and we intend to keep it that way, for the most part. But current events call for adaptation into a virtual world; adding just a sprinkle of structure with.
So, we are asking you to come prepared to network like normal, introduce yourself like normal, and answer a quick icebreaker to get the conversation flowing.
OH… and if you want to have your virtual business card (your Linkedin link) ready to hand out (copy and paste) we won’t be mad about it.
