Why YPOS? When Ahmad and I first started YPOS in 2010, there were no other organizations that were open to everyone. At the time all the other YP groups had a focus around a specific industry, alma mater, ethnicity, or were a subgroup of a larger organization. We created YPOS to be a community that brings together young people from all industries and backgrounds. Clearly it was a need that wasn’t being met and, as we’ve seen through our member numbers, Seattle has responded positively.
What do you do to relax?
I love baking- cooking in general. My best friend has told me I get this look on my face like I’m in my happy place.
What was the last experience that made you a better person?
How about my first? My aunt took me to a homeless shelter she volunteered at in Portland when I was 13 and that experience totally rocked my world. I’ve been passionate about philanthropy ever since.
What was your first job?
When I was little I got paid $200 to walk in a local parade wearing a giant box advertising the 90’s version of Groupon.
