Ode to Our Floatie

Team LayRoots recently invested in the biggest floatie available to upgrade their boat-dwelling existence. So far, it has really up-leveled the Seattle summer experience.  You don’t need to live on a boat to have a great time on a floatie in Seattle, though.  You can go tubing in Leavenworth (or near Snoqualmie) or you can float in Greenlake, Lake Union, or Lake Washington (there are public access points and beaches along all of these water bodies).  There are a ton of options.

There was even a city-wide float day in Portland a couple of weeks ago.  We bought our floatie at Costco (and it appears to be quite popular because we’re seeing it everywhere on the marina), but depending on how wild you want to get – maybe other purveyors of flotation devices would be better.

I’ll leave you to research it and with this poem, about my love for our floatie:

Boat life Seattle,
Summer makes you popular,
But we are moored.

Oh, how to get sun!?
And enjoy the cool water?
A trip to Costco.

Behold! The floaties!
Glorious, varied sizes.
We buy the biggest.

Oh, with the floatie,
The sun can be enjoyed.
We float in the lake.

Crack a beverage,
Take a swim or dip a toe.
Boat not required.
